SIGN UP INFORMATION

I've done a show of interest plurk, so now it's time for Official Sign-ups for the Betrayal at House on the Hill PSL. My plan is to have the first session start Friday, November 11th at 6:30 PM PST, which gives me time to get home from work.

I have not decided on a solid session time, but I think three hours per? We'll see how it works. After that, subsequent sessions should be held on fri-sat-sun, same time, until game comes to a close. Because I haven't run this or anything like this before, I unfortunately don't have a solid idea of how long this will take.

BETRAYAL AT HOUSE ON THE HILL- Basic Info & Mechanics

Betrayal at House on the Hill is a board game, with two phases. The first phase is exploring the haunted house, until the "haunt" is triggered, and then one of the players is revealed to be the traitor and it's up to the rest of the players to take them down lest the traitor succeed in their villainous aims (which vary from scenario to scenario). Game play happens mostly by exploring rooms, which have items, events, and omens inside them.

This game will be played ICly through RP-- rather than characters playing a board game, they will be trapped inside the haunted house of the game, exploring rooms, encountering items, omens, and events until one of them is revealed to be the traitor.

We are not going to be using dice to do this. We're here primarily for spooky atmosphere and putting characters through a horror setting, not because we want to win, so we'll RP out conflicts too.

Sign-ups

What I need from you:

-4 to 12ish players
- If we get more than six players, I need people to start pairing up, so we have six groups max.
- Partners will be ICly handcuffed together so they hold items, experience events, and explore rooms as a unit.
- To be available on DISCORD while the game is going, so you can ping me if I've missed an action from you, you need a response, so I can bother you if an event happens that effects all players (such as HAUNT START) or if you're doing something that another character needs to react to, so you can contact them. This will make things easier for all of us.

Who can I play?

- If I know you probably anyone you want. Just make sure they're not fucking spongebob squarepants-- pick a character who is from a canon that is character or story-focused enough that the character is solid.
- If I know you, probably your OC is okay but use your own judgement and don't play the one 800% interested only in sexytimes and nothing else because this is not the time for that.
- If you play a jaded PG/CRAU character that just wants to make snarky commentary and ignore the horror I will cut you. Don't ruin the atmosphere for everyone else.
- . . . if I don't know you, I'm not sure why or how you got here, but talk to me before signing up.

Other things:

- Be aware this is a horror game— there'll be bad things happening to characters! You cannot opt out of this! If you don't want bad things happening to your character, don't sign up!
- If you have a specific squick you want me to avoid, let me know and I can rewrite whatever cards/rooms your character gets to avoid that specific squick if it comes up. If your problem is something like blood in general tho, there's gonna be a problem.
