[ You sleep, the ground cold beneath your cheek. The ground is hard as stone, cold marble beneath a fine layer of dust that doesn't come anywhere near acting as a cushion. The dust stirs with your breathing.

[ That ... was not the best decision. Miles coughs hard, trying to draw in a breath past all the dust in the air. ]

Shit ... This isn't good.

[ivy is much better at pickpocketing than pulling apart bones, so she'll check the pockets first.]

[Okay, I like this ring. Putting it on his finger for safekeeping and heading for the next door.]

[ She digs around in the pockets and feels. . . something wet. moldering. Still moving, even as her fingers hit bone. ]

[ There's an electric jolt through him— like a static charge, but pleasant. The world is clearer, crisper. The world he sees in front of him has a certain three-dimensionality, like he's not just viewing it with his eyes but his thoughts too press on the room, feeling out its contours.

He heads to the Operating Lab ]

[ Inside, an Operating Laboratory awaits. A bucket full of stained gauze sits beside an operating gurney where leather straps hang, broken. Beneath a stained dirty sheet, he can see the contours of a body reclining.

A victorian's surgeon kit sits open on the counter nearby, a bloody handprint beside it.

The countertops are filled with more intruments, some rusty, some pristine, and jars of specimens, very well preserved.

There is a door on the wall adjacent to the one you entered through. ]

[First things first: Yanking the dirty sheet off that body to make sure that whatever's under there isn't gonna jump up and grab him.]

[Sure is spooky out there, right? You could probably use a breather. Maybe come downstairs, search the walls for hidden doors or windows? Maybe that's just me.]

[ Miles has a cool necklace and a knife and dynamite and a creepy buddy so ... okay things could be worse. ]

I'm very tired of this dream now.

[Simon looks up briefly, but doesn't stop prodding and knocking on the wall. He has a new ring on.]

You and me both. I usually wake up from nightmares by now.
