[ The rats scatter from Mordred's sword, skittering away then five of them swarm at her feet, trying to scurry up her legs, onto her arms, biting at her legs and scratching her already burned flesh as they go. ]

[This is all getting a little too much for him, though, so he clutches his stuff and one rat and dives into the pentagram room, slamming the door behind him.]

[ Miles is happy to snatch the damsel's wrist then and tug her away from where Simon went. ]

Also, Mordred, you're still covered in rats.

Two bite into her wrists, while two more jump from her onto Miles while he's rag-dolling. ]

[ Another sharp curse; Miles stabs down at one of the rats currently clawing at him. ]

[ SCOWLS AND TAKES A HAND OFF TO SMACK AT THE RATS, THE HAND THAT IS ATTACHED TO MILES' HAND, SO THIS IS MORE RAGDOLLING HERE ]

Annoying -- vermin!!

[ she refuses to drop the sword, however ]

[ One rat drops to the floor from off her. She is still being climbed and bitten by three rats. ]

[ The knife goes straight through its snout from its skull— if he's not careful with Mordred's tossing him about though, his own stab might get him or her, too. ]

[ Well, he certainly gets the rat. But with the ragdolling he also accidentally slashes quite close to - if not directly into - the side of Mordred's arm. Oops. ]

Stop thrashing around! You can't just drag me around like that!

[ SCOWLING, though - there doesn't seem to be a note of pain so much as fucking annoyance. she is also still smacking at the fucking rats. ]

[ He's also fighting them, just also jerking around whenever she uses that sword. ]

[ Mordred and Simon knock a rat off themselves a piece. There are now three rats on the floor, two on Mordred's legs, one retreated into the pentagram chamber with Simon, the rest all dead. ]

And hold still. I'm going to kill one of them.

[ He lunges at one of those rats on Mordred's legs. ]

[ PROVIDED MORDRED HOLDS STILL

One down! Four to go in here, before the pentagram chamber opens! ]

kicks off the other one though ]

[ MORDRED IS NOW RAT FREE.

The four rats regroup back in the soot, scampering about, away from Mordred and Miles. ]

-- Shit! Catch them!

[ He hurls himself at the nearest one. ]

[ DID YOU MEAN STAB THEM? ]

[ YES STABBING stabbing is happening. ]

[ The two of you stab one each— the last rat, looking desperate, leaps up— trying to catch the coal chute's sheer metal sides to scramble back up.
